One-Week Intensive Courses

Whitehorse, Yukon

Date: January 17-21, 2012
Format: One Week Intensive Tuesday-Saturday 8am - 5pm
This course is a challenging and intensive full week of instruction and is aimed at Canadian building professionals who have a passion to learn the art of Passive House design, the world’s leading standard in low‐energy, sustainable construction.

This course has received a grant from the Yukon Government! The first 20 people to register for this course will be able to receive a $500 scholarship to put towards the course fee.

Victoria, Vancouver Island

Date: April 02 - 08, 2012
Format: One Week Intensive Monday-Friday 8am - 5pm
Location: UVic

This course is a challenging and intensive full week of instruction and is aimed at Canadian building professionals who have a passion to learn the art of Passive House design, the world’s leading standard in low-energy, sustainable construction. You will gain the knowledge and tools you need to design and build compliant Passive Houses in Canada. The world’s leading standard in low-energy, sustainable construction, Passive House building techniques result in an 80-90% reduction in annual heating and cooling energy without the need for expensive renewable energy systems. Training material is geared to practical applications within Canadian building traditions, and respecting our residential building codes.

This course will be approved by AIBC for 36 Core LUs.

Evenings/Weekend Courses

Vancouver January 31 - March 20, 2012

Format: 8 Tuesday evenings 6:30-9:30pm, 2 Saturdays February 11 and March 10 from 9am-5pm
This new course will give participants the opportunity to get trained in Passive House design while still working and not having to take vacation time to attend. In this 36-hour course you gain the knowledge and tools you need to design and build compliant Passive Houses in Canada. The world’s leading standard in low‐energy, sustainable construction, Passive House building techniques result in an 80-90% reduction in annual heating and cooling energy without the need for expensive renewable energy systems. Training material is geared to practical applications within Canadian building traditions, and respecting our residential building codes.
